Key excerpts from Randy Pausch's last lecture: Acheiving Your Childhood Dreams

  • We cannot change the cards we are dealt, we can only control the way we play the hand.
  • When you are screwing up and nobody is saying anything to you anymore, that means they gave up on you.
  • Critics are the ones telling you they still love and care about you.
  • Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
  • Brick walls are there to stop people who don't something badly enough.
  • Wait long enough, and people will surprise and impress you. When you are pissed off at somebody and angry at them, you just haven't given them enough time.
  • Until you get ice cream spilled on you, you are not doing real work.
  • The best way to teach somebody something is to have them think they are learning something else.
  • When people give you feedback cherish it and use it.
  • Don't complain, just work harder.
  • Luck is truly when preperation meets opportunity.
  • Be good at something, it makes you valuable.
  • Find the best in everybody, no matter how long you have to wait for them to show it.
Finally, did you figure out the head fake?
This post is not for my readers, it's mainly for myself ;)
(Thanks to my friend Raj for sharing this video even though it's an old one which everyone knows about :) )
